Ongoing coaching, communication, and feedback are essential to having an effective performance management system. Midyear evaluations provide a structured opportunity to document check-ins between CEDs/DEDs and Agents to
discuss the employee’s performance.
During this time, meeting expectations outlined in goals, strategies, or professional development activities may be areas for discussion. Conducting regular interim reviews gives supervisors opportunities to:
- Discuss employees' performance progress.
- Provide employees with additional support or resources.
- Clarify or add performance expectations.
- Create a running record of accomplishments to support the final evaluation.
- Reduce employee anxiety over the content of the final evaluation.
Completing the Midyear Evaluation: Step by Step
Step 1: Performance Evaluation.
The CED/DED prepares for the midyear evaluation meeting and adds midyear comments into the XPM system. The supervisor meets with the Agent to discuss performance.
Step 2: Digital Signature. Following the midyear evaluation meeting the CED/DED digitally signs the evaluation in XPM. The system then sends notification to the agent to log into XPM to enter comments (optional) and digitally sign the midyear evaluation. The signature is an acknowledgment that they received the document, not that they agree with the contents.
