The XPM (EXtension Performance Management) System is a tool to set strategies for achieving individual employee performance goals and to evaluate and provide feedback on job performance. XPM is used for Extension Agents and County Extension Directors (100% county funded agents can either use the county performance evaluation form or a paper/electronic version of the form but do  not use the XPM system).

Performance management provides a means to align individual program planning efforts with the goals and priorities of N.C. Cooperative Extension and strategic plan initiatives of the University.

Through the performance management process, it is important to measure and recognize what has been accomplished rather than simply measure activities. Read the story of the Beekeeper and Their Bees to learn more about this.

The performance management process also provides a defined cycle of review for supervisors and employees to assess employee success toward meeting professional development goals and address any barriers.

This website provides resources for Agents and CEDs, to help you navigate program planning, developing annual strategies and professional development plans, and completing midyear or annual performance evaluations.
